Where did all those tooth fairy ideas come from? As with most customs, today's version has been shaped by various cultures and experiences from around the world. Truly this tradition (which dates back to the Middle Ages) has stood the test of time.

While many cultures anticipate a tooth fairy, other children may be eager for the tooth mouse to arrive. Still other regions forego these silly tooth fairy ideas and throw baby teeth over or under the house (top teeth go under so the new tooth will grow downwards while bottom teeth are tossed over the home to ensure that the permanent tooth grows upwards).

Some traditions include a gift of money or a small toy in exchange for the unneeded nibbler but remain rather silent on the end use of the tooth.
